MBC in English > Children's campChildren's camp "Cape of Hope"OUR HISTORY In August 2002 Moscow Bible church had the first Children’s camp out of town. God blessed all of us greatly. The camp went very well. It lasted 8 days. Total number of the kids that participated was 28. They all came from different family situations; many kids have only one parent or a difficult situation at home. The program for the day included the following: all-camp meetings, time for small groups to discuss the lesson, sports, and clubs. Club time was one of the camp highlights. Camp counselors were very creative. Kids had opportunities to explore stars, learn Conversational English, participate in puppet theatre, bake, do a multitude of different crafts, work on articles, take surveys and pictures of camp life. The camp helped children to strengthen their walk with the Lord and also get lots of love and attention. For non-believing kids it’s a great way to see who Christians are, to see a different approach to life and to hear the Good news. Love is very important, because many of the kids that came to our camp were from single parent home. A boy named Misha was 6 years old, the youngest at the camp. On the first day he was very quiet and didn’t want to participate in any of the activities. Next he was the same way - sad and passive. The counselors were doing everything to make him smile, to help him make friends with other kids and he started to change. By the end of the camp he was running around, taking part in all-camp games, playing with other children. God blessed all of us thru Misha. A girl named Tanya is 7 years old was at our camp and after she returned from the camp, she told all her classmates about it. Different parents started calling her mother to know more about it and asked if their children can go next year. It’s amazing because usually non-Christians don’t want their children to hear about God, but the Lord used our camp in a wonderful way. People want their children to go to a safe place, where they won’t learn how to smoke or use bad words, but get a positive influence, even if that means Christian. In 2003 we decided to have another camp. We grew to 40 kids and 20 staff. We had a sea theme. Kids were sailors, we lived on “a ship” and we learned about Bible heroes that had some sea experience in their lives, like Noah, Jonah, Moses and Jesus. We could see God's hand on us all the time. Everyday there was something new He was teaching us. One day we went on a hike. In the morning we prayed for good weather and the sun was out. The hike was a great time for children to become close friends with counselors and see the world God has created for us. The minute we came back to the camp, we saw lightnening and heavy rain broke out. In the end of the camp we talked a lot about Jesus and watched the "Jesus" film for children. Two boys, both 13 years old decided to give their lives to God. We also praise the Lord for a girl named Ksusha. She realized that Jesus died for her when she was watching Jesus film. Masha came to a Christian camp for the first time and got very interested in God, so we pray we have contact with her after camp. The atmosphere at the camp was very warm and loving. The staff did very well. They supported each other and were always ready to help, flex and sacrifice. Photos from the children's camp 2003. Presentation about the Camp 2004. OUR GOALS We want kids t - Have fun and rest
- Discover who Jesus Christ is and what He did for us
- Find new friends
- Develop new abilities and talents
In our camp we try to create a special atmosphere where each child feels love and care. We see relationships as the key to showing Christ to the children. Our staff are volunteers from our church that love kids and want to share God’s love with them. Each year we create a program and find people to reach these goals. This year we want to have Olympic games to learn about the world: different countries and their cultures. We will learn to be a team, to support each other. We will learn with our hands, heads and hearts. WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN OUR TEAM? You can: - Be on our prayer team and receive e-mails with fresh bi-weekly prayer requests during the camp preparation and daily prayer requests during two weeks of the camp. It’s very important for us to have prayer partners, because camp is always attacked by the enemy.
- Be on our donation team: we need sports equipment and crafts material.
During the year we plan to use sports equipment for the youth group activities and children’s weekly Bible club. - Be on the scholarship team – you can sponsor a child to go to the camp.
$120 is the sum we pay for each child’s participation. Many families can not afford to pay the full price for their child to go to the camp. But we want all kids to have a chance to go, especially the ones that come from non-Christian families. It’s a great way to minister to non-believers that have a difficult financial situation. No sum is small.
